North Whitehall Township Public Works

2016 Proposed Public Works Projects

Each year in the Spring after the snow and ice have melted, the Public Works Department evaluates all the roads in the Township. Depending on the severity of the winter and damage that occurs a list of roads is developed that will be considered high priority for repairs.

Some roads require general pot hole repair while others may needs more extensive repairs. In addition to repairs needed due to the winter, some roads are scheduled for maintenance projects. These may include crack sealing, oil and chipping and micro-surfacing. It is only in severe cases that entire road surfaces are totally overlaid with new asphalt wearing surface.

This is the most expensive form of road work and is usually done only in severe cases or where multiple road way cuts have been made and the driving surface is very uneven.

Maintenance projects currently scheduled for 2016 include:
  1. Chip Seal - Golf Course Road, Coplay Creek Road, Valley Road, Jordan Road, Horseshoe Road, Covered Bridge Circle, Old Mile Hill Road, Hoffmansville Road, Gristmill Road, Apple Road, Wood Street.

  2. Micro Surfacing - Washington Street, Brook Street, Sugar Pie Drive, Lindsay Lane, Dickson Drive, Welby Drive, Copeechan Road, Opossum Lane.

  3. Ultra-Thin Friction Course (Nova chip) - Lenmar Drive, Lakeside Drive, Raspberry Drive, Lincoln Street, Buchanan Street

  4. Single Size Chip Seal followed by Fog Seal - Debra Drive, Country Court, Shirley Drive, Curtis Drive, Crestwood Place, Crestwood Drive

  5. Strom Water Pipe Replacement - Gristmill Road

These projects are currently projected, however the final list may be altered due to winter damage or other unforeseen circumstances. Notification will be made on the website closer to the date of these projects so residents will be aware what roads may be temporarily closed.
